Rewilding begins at the Shoreham Academy

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Enjoolata Foundation, The Shoreham Academy is the first school in the Brighton and Hove area to join the Conservation School Award and begin rewilding in their school grounds. Plans are afoot for extensive new wildlife friendly native hedgerows, deep grass margins, orchards, wildflower banks, spring meadows and a wildlife pond to name a few of the rewilding options.

With extensive grounds, there are considerable rewilding opportunities at the Academy to create an important refuge for wildlife. All of this has been made possible by the generous support for the Academy over the next 5 years by the Enjoolata Foundation. This will enable the rewilding initiatives to firmly establish within the grounds, something that is going to be of great benefit not only to wildlife but also to students at the Academy.

It is hoped that Shoreham Academy will become an exemplar site for the Conservation School Award in West Sussex, and that many other schools will follow and sign up to become a rewilding school.
