Corfe Castle CE VC Primary School Join the Conservation School Award.

What a wonderful surprise was in store for me when I went to visit Corfe Castle Primary school this week. The second school in Purbeck to join the Conservation School Award, I had heard they had already started some rewilding within the school grounds, but nothing had prepared me for what I was about to find - a fantastic area of grassland and wildflowers leading on to the forest school at the perimeter of the sports pitches.

It is so brilliant to see schools already taking action to support nature, and they are excelling at Corfe Castle Primary school. The next steps will be to create some additional wildlife corridors around the school itself and to add more plants and shrubs to support pollinators. There is already a stream running along the valley and plans are afoot to restore the school pond to support amphibians, invertebrates and other wildlife. Watch this space for updates!
