“Britain has one last chance to save its endangered species.”

Why become a Rewilding School?

The Opportunity

Operation Future Hope is offering your school the opportunity to become a member of a national rewilding and ecological education programme that enables young people to become practically involved in the restoration of nature.

Through our year long Nature and Rewilding Course, students will become informed about vital conservation issues and equipped with practical knowledge and skills to enable them to engage with, and care for the natural world, starting with rewilding their own school grounds

The problem is ours to solve

Britain is one of the most depleted countries in terms of biodiversity loss – 29th worst from the bottom out of 218 nations.  Involving your students by educating them about planetary health, and allowing them to be involved in rewilding at school, is one important way of addressing this.

Building Biodiversity havens

By taking up the opportunity, you will be helping to build a national network of biodiversity havens within schools, and be practically helping to restore nature whilst reconnecting young people with the land.

Creating a new story

By inspiring young adults to care for nature, we believe they will impact their families and local communities to take up the challenge of living their lives in a way that supports the whole community of life on the Planet.

Why take part

We have all played our part in the devastating loss of nature. Our individual choices and actions have brought about large-scale ecological destruction, and the untold and ongoing suffering of millions of animals.  As a result, we now face the very real and present danger of runaway climate change and ecological collapse, with many species set to become extinct within the next decade.

We must now each become part of the remedy and the solution as we undertake the great work of regenerating the living world.

Hope for the Future

Becoming a Rewilding School offers young people a very real hope for the future, through educating, equipping and providing a hands on practical way of doing their part to build a better world - one where all species can thrive, not just our own.

British Wildlife Decline.

‘Between 1970 and 2013, 56% of UK species declined. Of the nearly 8,000 species, 15% are threatened with extinction. This suggests that we are among the most nature-depleted countries in the world. State of Nature Report, 2016.
